About Toronto Japanese Prefectural Association

On August 2, 1902, when the number of Japanese immigrants in Vancouver began to increase, the first prefectural association in Canada was organized. Nearly 120 years since the formation of the "Vancouver Hiroshima Club," prefectural associations and regional affinity groups have developed as vital connections in the lives of Japanese immigrants, serving as important community ties.

While the forms of migration and the number of immigrants may have changed, the connection to the common "home" (Kunimono) continues to be cherished to this day.The Toronto Prefectural Association.

Since 2022, the Toronto Japanese Prefectural Association, spanning from pre-war to wartime and post-war Japanese immigrants to new settlers and immigrants of the new century, strives to foster strong bonds among Japanese immigrants and with communities beyond the Japanese diaspora through Japanese culture. They aim to pass these connections on to the next generation.
